Wear and Care of your Beaded Jewellery

The Golden rule with beaded jewellery - well actually any jewellery - is that it's last on and first off.

This is probably a hard habit to change for many women but will ensure your jewellery lasts longer.

So next time you are about to get dressed and put on your jewellery - stop - put it down , do your makeup and hair then put on your gorgeous piece of jewellery.

Hairspray, perfume and makeup will over time damage jewellery no matter what the price of the piece.

Another tip- don't store your jewellery scrunched up - necklaces should either be hung or laid flat. The lovely organza bag we jewellery artists give you are for short term transportation -not long term storage. Hence why we are frequently replacing beading wire like tigertail, with stronger and more flexible beading wire particularly on delicate single strand necklaces.

Tigertail (the most common wire used in beaded jewellery) and some of its equivalents kinks very easily.

A great way to hang your necklaces are on necklaces stand- you can pick these up at your nearest Warehouse (NZ) or buy a coffee cup stand - you can get some nice looking metal ones. Check your kitchenware areas/shops for these.
